Jon advocates each year in the state budget for increased aid for K-12 education and local government for Watertown and Cambridge and other local priorities. In this year’s past budget, Jon successfully advocated for additional funding for school districts like Watertown that have exceptionally high special education costs, continued funding of the Watertown Police Department’s innovative mental health jail diversion program, and supplementary funding to enable the Cambridge Health Alliance to continue to provide high-quality care to its disproportionately low-income patient population. In addition to his district specific budget advocacy, Jon focuses much of his work for the district on safe and efficient transportation, more reliable public transit, bike-ped infrastructure, and investment in the district’s parklands.
